Well, it turns out I forgot to save the file I used last week, so I am starting over with this week's assignment, and decided to do a new logo.
The first step was to modify the movie so that the background color matched that of my Web page, which is #ccffcc. I really like this color, which I find soothing and pleasant. Since this week's lesson concerned the interaction of lines and shapes on a single layer, I figured I ought to do some of that in my logo. First, I created an oval. I selected it, copied it to the clipboard, then pasted it in place several times. I then moved the copies out to form overlapping ovals. Then I selected the outer border segments, and moved them out a bit from the rest of the objects. I then selected the paint bucket tool, and filled some of the spaces in the central figure. I then drew a horizontal line across the central space, and this let me create my initial "A". I then selected the all of the border segments in the central figure and changed the border color to rich red. I then used a purple color to fill in just the central border segments, giving me a stylized "A".
Then I created a square, and use the eye-dropper to pick up colors I had used previously and use them for the border and the fill. I dragged the top-right corner down to create a triangle with the bottom line extended, then dragged one side in to get a curve. I selected the whole thing using the arrow marquee, turned on the grid markers, and used the arrow keys to line this object up with the objects on the right.
Then I used the arrow marquee to select the word "Ahuka", and dragged the handle to give it a lean to the right. Then, with the whole word still selected, I copied it to the clipboard, pasted in place, then clicked the left arrow key three times to move the copy. I then used the Ink Bottle tool to give it a color. I then repeated, except that I clicked the arrow key 6 times, and used a lighter shade, then once more, 9 times, still lighter shade. This gave me a nice effect that is sort of like a gradient, only chunkier. Someone did this with black-and-white the first week, and that gave me the idea.
Finally, I took the deformed triangle on the left, copied it, rotated it 180 degrees, and moved it to the top right. After that, I exported the movie as an *.swf file, and here it is embedded.
